Start of the 24th Annual Memorial Day 2 Mile

Annual Memorial Day 2 Mile
On the day that we honor the memories of those who have
given their lives in war for their country, the Virgin Islands Pace

Road Race.
A water-soaked course with overcast skies was the setting
for the two mile-down hill course from Beeston Hill to the Scale House
of the National Park Service in
Christiansted.
It was fitting that Billy Bohlke, a military pilot with the United
States Air Force and just completing a tour of duty in Afghanistan, led
the way to first place overall as he ran the two miles in nine 9 minutes
and 11 seconds. Top V.I. high school runner, Juan Robles of St. Croix
Central High School, was right on Bohlke’s heels all the way as they
