Goodwin and Aurelien Win Emancipation Run Free Mile

July 3, 2001 St.Croix, Virgin Islands--Jabari goodwin and Sherma Aurelie were the first man and first woman runners to cross the finish line in the second annual Emancipation Day Run Free Mile on St.Croix.  The race started outside Frederiksted and finished at the spot known as Buddhoe Park, where the emancipation of slaves in the Danish West Indies took place in 1848.  For the men Goodwin's time was 4:54.51; Amalee Lockhart was second in 5:26.33; Troyson Raymond was third in 5:50.22; Junuru Goodwin fourth in 6:28.81; J'Kendai fifth in 6:43.32; Lesley Farrelly was sixth in 9:24.07; and McDonald Taylor was seventh in 10:59.45.

Among the women, Aureleien was first in 6:01.55; Jawana Goodwin was second in 6:27.26; Latoya Samuel 6:43.40, edged out J'Kiwa Goodwin for fourth, who ran 6:43.59; Jsshra Goodwin was fifth in 8:48.03; Macksh Taylor sixth in7:16.11; and Claudette Christian seventh in 12:42.49
