Karunaratne was killed as the results of a bomb blast on Sunday morning April 6, 2008 at the start of a marathon in Weliweriya, Sri Lanka...K.A. Karunaratne competed in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics Marathon...

The Society of Olympic Marathon Runners recognizes and promotes all that is related to the activities and the memory of each Olympic Marathon Runner. This is accomplished through research of each Olympic Games Marathon and each Olympics Games Marathon Runner.  Information pertaining to each Olympic Marathon Runner, including biographical sketches, graphic images, etc. is made available for review via print and electronic means.
